Hi all,
For the last 10 years, I've made it a point of attending the national
NORML conference every year. For me, it's a time for learning, and
perhaps more notably, a recharge of my activist batteries.
This year's conference was fantastic, as expected.
This year also happens to be the year that America arrested our twenty
millionth marijuana "criminal". 20 Million! It's a preposterous number,
and I'll remind you why:
Consuming cannabis (marijuana) is a purely personal matter, and the
government has no business punishing any adult for doing so.
But instead, our taxes pay for billions every year to hunt, chase, bust,
prosecute and cage people who grew a plant, smoked a joint or carried a
baggy to a friend.
If you'd like to hear more about the conference, let me know.
Now, onto the subject of this email. We've got a big election coming up
in a few weeks. Regardless of where you are on the big political issues
(as defined by NBC, CNN, FOX, et. al.), we at Montana NORML thought you
might like to hear some local candidates' answers to these questions:
* Would you support legislation to eliminate jail time for private adult
marijuana use? Why or why not?
* What measures would you support to improve Montana's medical marijuana
law?
Many candidates chose not to respond, but for those who answered, their
unfiltered replies are here:
